Tell us about what you do at AEG.

As an AEG recruiter, I source talent from engineering, communication, and science backgrounds from all over the country, and I match their skillsets and career aspirations with global and local companies.

As AEG’s Diversity Ambassador, I promote, implement, and improve DE&I initiatives among our team and St. Louis community. I love bringing these two roles together to foster diversity and inclusion in each area I serve!

How long have you been with the company?

I have been with AEG for about 8 months.

What inspires you most about working on the AEG team?

Each of my coworkers inspires me in unique ways—some for their kindness and hard work, others due to their extensive industry knowledge and collaborative mindset. Overall, my colleagues are very passionate about the work they do, and I’m glad I get to see their excitement firsthand every day!

How does AEG support your career and personal goals?

AEG supports me by providing tools and resources for me to grow and learn in my career. They’ve given me the room to be new to the staffing world, answering my questions and supporting my curiosity. The whole team has been so supportive, allowing me to flourish.

What’s the #1 quality you feel is important to achieving success in the staffing industry?

Resilience. Refusing to give up or be discouraged is key to succeeding in this industry. There are lots of factors that are beyond our control, so perseverance is crucial to thriving here.

What are the toughest challenges you’ve had at work? The biggest wins?

Learning about different tools and job responsibilities and how they integrate within the larger picture of the IT industry was challenging at first.

The biggest win is definitely finding a candidate that checks all the boxes as far as skillset and cultural fit for a client.

What’s a unique trait or something that differentiates you from others in your position?

I take the time to understand a candidate’s growth goals regarding their skillset and ideal company culture. It’s important they feel they’re gaining something from both areas! Making a career change can be challenging, so I want to ensure I’m providing accurate information about the opportunity and matching their expectations.

What’s the biggest benefit of partnering with a staffing firm in a job search/search for talent?

From a job seeker’s perspective, working with an agency allows a candidate to have their application reviewed by our recruitment team. As job search experts, we can give them tips for improving their resume or help them prepare for interviews. We’ll also provide information on things beyond what’s stated in the job description, such as the company’s interviewing process, culture, and team environment.

As for a company sourcing talent, they’re presented with candidates with the exact skills and experience they need. We also take over the responsibility of educating job seekers about the position, walking them through the hiring process, and onboarding them. This saves our partner companies so much time and effort!

If you could give one piece of advice to a candidate/client, what would it be?

To candidates: engage with recruiters! We have other opportunities available even if the one we originally present to you is not the best fit. Share your preferences and strengths with us, that way we will share opportunities that align with your expectations.

To clients: be clear about your expectations in terms of responsibilities, tech stack, team environment, and hiring process.

What’s your favorite thing to do in St. Louis?

I have so many, it’s hard to choose one! I love all the outdoor activities (when the weather allows). The St. Louis area has so much to offer, from state parks to cool patios.
