AEG Employee Spotlight: Ellie Watkins Account Specialist

I’m a Recruiter and an Account Specialist for AEG’s Enterprise Holdings account. My day-to-day involves connecting the right professionals to the right opportunities, while also providing coverage on our Enterprise roles. I love communicating with the Enterprise team to learn how we can better help them fill their job openings.


How long have you been with the company?

I’ve been with AEG since September of 2022, and I learn more every single day!


What inspires you most about working on the AEG team?

The team at AEG truly rewards hard work and has created a collaborative, supportive, and engaged culture. Every player on our team, whether on the recruiting side or the sales side, supports one another and encourages positive outcomes.


How does AEG support your career and personal goals?

AEG supports our work-life balance while also providing us with opportunities to further our professional careers. Our schedule is flexible, so we can take care of our personal goals outside of work too. Our management team also prioritizes our career growth by setting up one-on-one meetings, internal competitions, and achievable goals each month!


What’s the #1 quality you feel is important to achieving success in the staffing industry?

Perseverance. This role has plenty of ups and downs, and it’s incredibly important to keep a positive attitude and put in the work daily. Those that can push through the noes will see success down the road!


What are the toughest challenges you’ve had at work? The biggest wins?

One of our recent challenges has been the slow decline in IT roles. The quality of candidates on the market is very high, but the number of open roles is very low.


Our biggest win is our ability to transition our expertise to different fields such as engineering, marketing, and the business world.


What’s a unique trait or something that differentiates you from others in your position?

I’m passionate about putting everything I have into what I do, exhausting all options to find success.


What’s the biggest benefit to partnering with a staffing firm in a job search/search for talent?

By partnering with a staffing firm, we help you in several ways. We assist in the initial application to a role by providing resume reviews and interview preparation. We speak directly with the client to find out exactly what they’re looking for and then communicate that to candidates. We also do our best to make sure we can answer any questions candidates have, act as a liaison, and make the job search process as smooth as possible!


If you could give one piece of advice to a candidate/client, what would it be?

Focus on soft skills in your interview! Technical knowledge is always important, but what puts a candidate over the top in the interview is clear communication and a positive attitude. Most companies are looking for a team player who is willing to learn and fits the culture!


What’s your favorite thing to do in St. Louis?

I love going to Cardinals games, Blues games, and concerts in the city. I also enjoy heading out to the wineries in Defiance and Augusta on a beautiful summer day!
